Baylor County Ag Appreciation Day (See photos below story)

The Baylor County Farm Bureau sponsored its annual Ag in the Classroom event for Seymour fourth graders at the Baylor County Ag Pavilion on May 4.  The focus of the event was to teach students about the importance of agriculture in their lives and also the impact agriculture has on Baylor
County.  The fourth graders then rotated though a series of ag-related stations.

Nell Tucker and the gang with the Wichita Area Cattlewomen did a beef presentation, which included nutrition and by-products, and Jeff Groves
with the Baylor County NRCS taught water conservation with a rainfall simulator. James Loran with Quality Implement Company gave the
students a ride on a John Deere tractor and talked about safety around
farm equipment. 4-H leaders Mariah Walker and Becca Hollar promoted
the local 4-H program and informed the students of all the various 4-H activities to be involved in. With the help of David Howell, Kaylie Walker
and Taylor Orsak, the students were able to learn about livestock programs involving heifers, goats, sheep, rabbits and swine.  The students were
also able to test their roping skills with lessons provided by Farm Bureau directors Mark Daniel and Jim Tucker.

To end the day, the fourth graders enjoyed a hot dog lunch provided by Quality Implement of Seymour and cooked by Farm Bureau Agency
Manager John Parum.

Food Check-Out Week
Baylor County Farm Bureau teamed up with Seymour Elementary for a food drive to celebrate Food Check-Out Week. The students collected a whopping 709 pounds of food to donate to SoHo (Seymour Organization Helping Others).

Proposition 11
Members went to the polls and helped with passage of Proposition 11.
Baylor CFB had the highest passing percentage of Proposition 11 of any county in the state. Texas Farm Bureau members worked hard to ensure the overwhelming passage of this important private property rights amendment to the Texas Constitution.
