DeWitt County is one of the top agricultural counties in Texas in beef cattle and pecan production and is the Wildflower and Turkeyfest Capital of the World. Pictured
is our newly-renovated County Courthouse. Also being renovated is the former Knights of Pythias
building as the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum.

Food Check-Out Week celebrated

DeWitt CFB donated $400 to Bluebonnet Youth Ranch in recognition of Food Check-Out Week. At the presentation were (l-r) Tommy Wenzel, Al Janak, Kim Reeves of Bluebonnet Youth Ranch and DeWitt CFB President Robert Nagel. Bluebonnet Youth Ranch is a nonprofit provider of residential care for dependent children. At the beginning of February, Bluebonnet Youth Ranch had 24 residents and a monthly grocery bill of close to $3,000. DWCFB is proud to help with part of this grocery bill for the week of Feb. 19-25.

We support our local VFDs!

President Robert Nagel (holding sign) and board members present checks to VFD representatives for $900 from the Texas Farm Bureau wildfire program.  Seven fire departments received these checks: Cuero, Meyersville, Nordheim, Thomaston, Westhoff, Yoakum and Yorktown.

(Left) Board member Joseph Warwas presents a $300 check to Nordheim VFD Fire Chief Karl Dueser. (Right) President Wayne Wolf presents a check to Cuero Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Butch Tolbert.

DeWitt County Farm Bureau donated $300 to the Westhoff Volunteer Fire Department.  Judy Fisher, board secretary, presents a check to volunteer fireman Harlan Fuchs.

The inspiration for the purchase and installation of the flag is the sacrifice, heroism and determination of our United States of America servicemen and women, during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. (See the list at http://www.iraqwarheroes.com/)
An aluminum container with the names of all involved in the flagpole erection was placed in the flag pole base. After the flag pole was erected, we thanked God for the privilege of being Americans, for our troops, their families and their sacrifice for our great nation. A memorial rock base and plaque will be installed prior to the dedication ceremony.
