Name the Longhorn Contest
We have the winners!

Lovel Blain presents awards to Micah Grahmann and Lisa Eakin for naming our Longhorn.
The winning name is Thornton,
for Thornton Chisholm,
among the first to drive cattle along the Chisholm Trail.
In conjunction with the Chisholm Trail/DeWitt County Farm Bureau event, we had a Name the Longhorn Contest. The longhorn belongs to Mr. Lovel A. Blain III.
The contest was limited to Cuero Middle School students. Students began study the beginnings of the longhorn breed in Texas and were introduced to the Chisholm Trail. Some students wrote essays about the Texas Longhorn.
This contest was in association with the Chisholm Trail Membership Dinner to be held at a later date. It was advertised during DWCFB's event on March 23 and a picture of the steer will be hung in the museum.
Steer names were turned in on Monday March 12, 2007 and the winner was announced on Tuesday March 13, 2007.
