2008 Agriculture in the Classroom 'Ag Day'
For seven consecutive years, the Polk County Farm Bureau has sponsored the Polk County “Ag Day.” In conjunction with Texas Farm Bureau's Agriculture in the Classroom project, Polk County Farm Bureau invites all the 4th grade classes to join in a field day promoting agriculture and safety.
The 2008 event was held on Tuesday, May 6 at the Wiggins Arena, serving over 520 Polk County students. Exhibitors included Texas Farm Bureau, Lone Star Llamas, Texas Soil and Water, Livingston VFD, Pilgrim's Pride Chicken, Rudebusch Honey Farm, Americare Ambulance Service, 4-H clubs and Texas Extension office. Lunch was prepared by Polk County Farm Bureau volunteers and provided by donations from Livingston Wal-Mart, H-E-B, Coca-Cola, Stubby's Market (Onalaska), and Polk County Farm Bureau.
Please thank these businesses for their support. The event staff was furnished by Livingston High School and Big Sandy High School. A big thanks to these students for their hard work all day. Education is the focus, but a little fun is thrown in along the way.
