In Memory - Jay Snook

Texas Farm Bureau lost a great leader on Sept. 10, when District 9 State Director Jay V. Snook Jr. passed away after an accident on his family ranch south of Livingston. Snook was elected to the TFB Board of Directors in December 2007.

Snook and his wife, Patricia, lived in Livingston and were involved in ranching, timber production, cow-calf operation and rental property management. He began his Farm Bureau membership in 1972, serving as a board member of the local Polk County Farm Bureau. In the past 39 years, Snook served as secretary-treasurer, vice president and president of Polk CFB.

He also was instrumental in organizing the first Ag Day in Polk County, a member of the TFB Resolutions Committee and a member of the State Beef Commodity Advisory Board.

Snook is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Kevin Snook, and wife Diana; and daughter, Wendy Ross, and husband Mack, all of Livingston. Other survivors include the joys of his life, his precious grandchildren—Cody and Taylor Ross, and Dylan and Ryan Snook.

We support our volunteer fire departments!

Polk County FB presented checks to local fire departments in the amount of $13,400.  In lieu of flowers, Jay Snook's family requested that donations may be made to the Polk CFB to be used to support the volunteer fire departments. We appreciate the outpouring of support that we received from our community!
