Three of Texas' best young agricultural producerstwo from the High Plains and one from North Central Texashave been named finalists in Texas Farm Bureau's Outstanding Young Farmer & Rancher Contest.
Sponsored by the state's largest farm organization, the annual event honors young leaders in agriculture by recognizing and rewarding the hard work and determination needed to succeed in this challenging enterprise.
This year's Outstanding YF&R candidatesJustin Dauer of Panhandle, Jay Davis of Grandview and Eddie Griffis of Lubbockwere chosen from an outstanding field of applicants from across the Lone Star State.
The state winner and his spouse will receive the following award package: Title to a 2007 Dodge Ram 3/4-ton 4X4 Quad Cab pickup with a Cummins diesel engine, courtesy of Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company; 150 hours use of a Case IH tractor (winner selects from a 40 PTO horsepower up to 155 PTO horsepower tractor two-wheel drive or MFD front-wheel drive assist), courtesy of Case IH; a plaque and belt buckle; transportation and two nights lodging with meals to the Texas Farm Bureau State Convention in Arlington; and a $500 cash award, courtesy of Dodge Trucks.
The state winner and spouse will also represent Texas in January 2007 at the American Farm Bureau Achievement Award competition in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Runners-up and their spouses will receive the following: Complimentary use of a 2007 3/4-ton 4X4 Quad Cab pickup from December 2006 to November 2007, courtesy of Dodge; a new pair of Justin Boots, compliments of Justin Brands Inc.; a plaque and belt buckle; and an expenses-paid trip to the Texas Farm Bureau state convention in Arlington.
