Gillespie CFB is involved

The Gillespie County Farm Bureau is your “Voice for Agriculture and Rural Issues.” The modern Texas Farm Bureau was established in 1933 and the Gillespie County chapter was established in1946. Texas Farm Bureau boasts more than 400,000 members and our county has over 2,500 members. We are a voice to be heard on any issue that affects our farmers, ranchers and rural citizens.

Gillespie County Farm Bureau, their volunteer board members and active participants are also involved in our community. You will find us as leaders in community organizations, political and educational affairs, as well as economic and environmental groups. Farm Bureau is especially active in any issue that involves new legislation…county, state and national. We fight for property rights, unnecessary tax increases, water rights, food safety, energy costs…and the list goes on. If there is a battle to be fought, you can count on GCFB to be there.

In addition to political issues, Gillespie County Farm Bureau gives back to the community with our time, our service and our dollars. We offer scholarship opportunities totaling nearly $10,000. We participate in several educational events, including Ag in the Classroom, Ag Field Day at the Fairgrounds, Seminars–from Livestock and Wildlife Marketing to Trucking Regulations–and even sending our volunteer firemen to Firemen's Training School. You will see our float in over 15 events, with the Gillespie County Farm Bureau Queen and her court. And best of all, every one of our 15 board members spends hundreds of volunteer hours in Gillespie County events.

To sum up the commitment of Gillespie County Farm Bureau, let us offer our Mission Statement:

Gillespie County Farm Bureau, its directors and members, are dedicated to protecting and enhancing the lifestyle of rural Americans. We will be an active voice for agriculture in our community, state and national affairs. We are a grassroots organization and will get things done for our fellow citizens. Gillespie County Farm Bureau believes in honesty, integrity and hard work.
