TFB scholarships
Texas Farm Bureau invests large amounts of money and time in development of youth leadership. Annually, scholarships totaling $16,000 are given to one leader in FCCLA, one in FFA and two in the
4-H Club.
The following scholarships are also awarded annually to individuals: Free Enterprise Speech, Miss Texas Farm Bureau, Talent Find, the Dick Mitchell scholarship, TFB Agriculture Research and Education Foundation and Young Farmer and Rancher scholarships.
Applicants must be a Texas Farm Bureau member or a member of a Texas Farm Bureau family. (Exceptions–Farm Bureau employees, dealers and/or servicing agents' children are not eligible for district or state contest participation.)
Local scholarships
In 2009, Gillespie County Farm Bureau awarded $4,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors. Winners this year are: Sharla Schmidt, $2,000, Fredericksburg High School; Autumn Davis, $1,000, Harper High School; and Alyssa Randle, $1,000, Harper High School.

TFB Youth Leadership Conference
Each year, Texas Farm Bureau hosts the TFB Youth Leadership Conference. Free Enterprise and the Constitution are among the topics discussed during this fun-filled week. Some 400 Texas youth participate in this seminar each summer. These students are selected by their county Farm Bureaus.
Dick Mitchell Scholarship
This scholarship, started in 1991, is in memory of former field representative and Field Services Director Dick Mitchell.
The recipient must be from a Farm Bureau member-family and must have attended the TFB Youth Leadership Conference.
Recipient – $1,000
Miss Texas Farm Bureau
Thirteen district winners will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
Contestants will be judged on personality, poise, speech and appearance.
State Contest:
Runner-up – increased to $1,500
Winner – increased to $2,000
Talent Find Contest
Thirteen district winners will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
Contestants will be judged on audience appeal, performance, appearance and professionalism.
State Contest:
Runner-up – increased to $1,500
Winner – increased to $2,000
Free Enterprise Speech Contest
All contestants must have completed the TFB Youth Leadership Conference to be eligible for the Free Enterprise Speech Contest. Each contestant must also have presented five (5) speeches concerning free enterprise within the prescribed time period.
A $4,000 scholarship goes to the winner of this contest. Six finalists will go to Washington, D.C. The remaining seven district winners will be awarded a $1,000 college scholarship by Texas Farm Bureau.
State Contest:
4 finalists – $1,500
Runner-up – $2,500
Winner – $4,000
TFB Agriculture Research and Education Foundation
The Texas Farm Bureau Agriculture Research and Education Foundation is a charitable affiliate of Texas Farm Bureau which annually awards one or more scholarships to graduating seniors whose parent(s) have been TFB members for at least two years. The Foundation awards scholarships based on academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and other factors, including family financial need. Each Foundation scholarship is $1,000 per year, renewable for up to four years if satisfactory college grades are maintained.
Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarships
Each year, proceeds from Young Farmer & Rancher Fundraising activities are used to award scholarships to high school seniors who intend to pursue a college degree in agriculture. Scholarships are also offered to college students with at least 45 hours of college credits who are studying an agriculture curriculum. The number of scholarships available, amount of scholarships and other specifics may vary from year to year.

The Mobile Learning Barn trailer creates a connection between people and agriculture, and the impact it has on our lives. The Mobile Learning Barn is a part of our TFB Agriculture in the Classroom Program.
