Groundwater is a critical resource for all Americans—whether they live in a rural town or urban metroplex. To raise awareness of groundwater and how to protect this important resource, the National Ground Water Association is celebrating National Groundwater Awareness Week, March 11-17.
“Groundwater remains critically important, whether you’re on a public water system or a private well,” said American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman. “Everyone can play a role in preserving and protecting our nation’s precious groundwater.”
Both Texas Farm Bureau and American Farm Bureau Federation support National Groundwater Awareness Week, as well as groundwater issues throughout the year. In the last legislative session, Texas Farm Bureau supported SB 332, which clarified that groundwater ownership belongs to the Texas landowner—which many people now credit as a landmark Texas law.
During National Groundwater Awareness Week, the National Ground Water Association will highlight how to preserve groundwater and protect a clean water supply. For more information, visit www.ngwa.org.
