Dr. Sonny Ramaswamy has been named the new director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).
Ramaswamy joins NIFA from Oregon State University, where he served as dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and directed research programs. He also has extensive experience working with the Land-Grant University System.
“I look forward to working with Dr. Ramaswamy as NIFA continues to be a strong support for research nationwide,” USDA Chief Scientist and Under Secretary for Research, Education and Economics Dr. Catherine Woteki wrote in article for Drover’s CattleNetwork. “He has proven his commitment to students, to the research community and to furthering scientific knowledge over his long career, and I’m confident he will carry that commitment with him every day at USDA.
