Register for mutton bustin’ at the Heart O’ Texas Fair

A format change will allow young cowboys and cowgirls to ride three times if they choose to participate in the mutton bustin’ event held during the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo in Waco. This crowd favorite rodeo event will be held Oct. 5-13.

There will be an entire area devoted to this increasingly popular and entertaining competitive event. From Oct. 5-10, there will be two mutton bustin’ performances per day in the Capstone Kids Zone tent outside. The top five scores from each performance will return two days later to ride in the semi-finals during the All American ProRodeo Finals inside the Extraco Coliseum.

The first and second place winners from each semi-finals round will advance to ride on Saturday, Oct. 13, in the Mutton Bustin’ Championships presented by Wells Fargo, during the rodeo.

Registration will be held at the Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Waco.

Registration Date: Wednesday, Sept. 5
Registration Location: Wells Fargo Bank, Downtown Waco
Registration Time: 8-10 a.m. (after 10 a.m., registration can be made at the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo office)
Registration Fee: $20 per child

All entries must be made in person. For more information, contact Melinda Moss at melinda@hotfair.com or (254) 776-1660. Children must be between the ages of 4 and 7 and weigh 45 pounds or less the day they ride. Helmets and vests will be provided and must be worn.
