Wind farms across the state of Texas reached a milestone earlier this month. According to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), wind farms produced more than 8,521 megawatts of electricity for the Lone Star State on Nov. 10. The amount of energy produced by wind farms that day accounted for almost 26 percent of electricity release the state saw that day.
The Wind Coalition notes that wind farms in Texas also were able to produce more than 5,000 megawatts of energy for three days in a row, setting another record for clean energy production in Texas.
According to HydrogenFuelNews.com, the production of wind could mean additional federal funding for the Lone Star State. Last year, Texas received nearly $600 million in federal subsidies due to wind farms.
