As part of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act, which was reauthorized by Congress for one year, rural schools in the Lone Star State will receive more than $2.3 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS).
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says the funding is part of the USDA’s long-standing commitment to rural communities and American youth. The funding is part of over $323 million paid to 41 states and Puerto Rico this month.
Each county’s share of the money allocated to their state can be found on the Forest Service’s website: http://bit.ly/W7y4FV.
