The drought isn’t the only thing that led to lower cattle inventory numbers across the state, according to one expert. Dr. Stan Bevers, a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service economist from Vernon, will discuss the factors that led to the current situation and how to rebuild cattle herds during the Blackland Income Growth (BIG) Conference Feb. 4-6 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco.
Bevers is also slated to discuss how much farmers and ranchers can afford to pay for replacement cows, herd productivity levels, operational costs and price projections.
Registration for the main conference is $20 and includes lunch.
