In February, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency will begin signing up American farmers and ranchers for its Direct and Counter-Cyclical Payment Program (DCP) and the Average Crop Revenue Election Program (ACRE). Registration begins Feb. 19 and will end Aug. 2 for DCP and June 3 for the ACRE program.
The DCP and ACRE programs were extended through the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, which extended the 2008 Farm Bill until a full five-year farm bill can be approved by legislators.
According to the USDA, all dairy producers’ Milk Income Loss Contract Program contracts are automatically extended to Sept. 30.
