House leaders to discuss farm bill

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) will meet early in February to discuss the 2013 Farm Bill, according to The Hill. The House is set to reconvene on Monday, Feb. 4.
Peterson has asked Boehner to bring a farm bill to the House floor this year. The House Agriculture Committee will draft a version for consideration.
“We’ll have a markup in April or May, sometime around then,” Peterson told The Hill.
Both Texas Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federation support passage of a long-term farm bill in 2013.
